The Oak island Tourism Society directors met Thursday, July 7, 2005 at the Oak Island Resort, Spa and Convention Center with four directors present and invited guest/member Gordon Phillips.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the direction of moving forward with Phase II of the society’s feasibility study and update directors on the lunch meeting between Dan Blankenship, Danny Hennigar and Gordon Phillips. Gordon Phillips and Danny Hennigar presented possible options/scenarios the society may or may not pursue.

After lengthy discussion of the societies direction, a unanimous decision was reached to draft a proposal to be presented to ACOA and Tourism Heritage and Culture representatives to discuss the funding of an Investors Solicitation Report.

A letter will be constructed and forwarded requesting a meeting with the society and appropriate government departments.

A motion to accept the minutes of the last meeting as read was put forward by Danny Hennigar. The motion was seconded by Carol Nauss. Motion passed.

The secretary read a resignation letter received July 5,2005 from Chairman Jim Barkhouse.

Carol Nauss put forward a motion to accept the resignation as tendered., the motion was second by Catherine MacPherson. Motion passed.

Danny Hennigar shared photos from a recent OITS member, John Henderson, who visited the area. A generous donation from John Henderson ; to assist with the cost of Explore Oak Island Day ; was presented.

Advertising and print media stories regarding the Explore Oak Island Day event August 13 &14, 2005 have been arranged.

A book written by Dr. David Conley of Australia, recent visitor to the area, was presented for viewing. The Gibbles I was Jesus, Who were you?, the first of a trilogy ISBEN Number0-9757023-0-0 published by Sirius Books.

Lighthouse Publishing approached OITS to partner in the creation of a multi-media CD about the Oak Island story and the OITS. A meeting will be arranged to discuss the content.

A meeting with the newly elected MLA Judy Streatch will take place July 13, 2005 to discuss the Oits mandate.

Meeting was adjourned at 9:20 P.M.
