The Oak Island Tourism Society met at 421 Middle River Road the 9th of January 2007. Chairman Ken Petrie called the meeting to order at 7: 35 P.M. Five directors were in attendance for the meeting.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted as presented.
A date for the Annual General Meeting was discussed. The Meeting will be held at the Oak Island Resort Spa and Convention Center. A notice of the meetings date will be sent to all members.
A brief discussion was held regarding the17 December 2006 Meeting with MLA Judith Streatch and Minister Goucher.
A discussion about the use of Paypal.com by the society to sell merchandise, memberships and services was held.
Danny Hennigar put forward a motion for the Oak Island Tourism Society to set up an account with Paypal.com to sell society merchandise, memberships, and services on a trial basis of nine months. The nine months will start from the beginning set up date of the Paypal account. At the end of the trial time period the directors will assess the success of the venture.
Kyle Wagner was the second on the motion which passed with all in favor.
A progress report on events for 2007 Explore Oak Island Days was presented by Danny Hennigar.
Danny Hennigar put forward a motion to investigate the construction of an aerial view diorama of Oak Island. The construction to be done by Ben Verburgh and not to exceed the cost of $600.00.
Glenda Redden was the second on the motion which passed with all in favor.
The chairman called for a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:45 P.M. The motion to adjourn was made by Danny Hennigar.
